Affiliate Marketing

I spent last night changing the Theme to this Blog and setting up my Twitter.com/ReZourceGuy Profile. Today, between errands, helping around the house, and getting the kids out on a hike, I spent about 3 hours online researching Landing Pages / Squeeze Pages / Capture Pages.

Just about every piece of information I could find can be classified as “buy my stuff, or my Squeeze Pages”, or alot of “talk talk” and no real advice at all on how to build a Capture page.

GVO looks to have a good system from start to finish for a new Affiliate Marketer. I will look at them more closely and report in another Post.

Following is the last article or Post I could handle for one day. It easily falls into the “talk talk” category by stating what Affiliate Marketers need, but not offering ANY information on how to build a Capture Page, or where to go to gain that knowledge!

This link is from a Tweet from @First_Million on Twitter. Read the article. If you can make sense of it, please let me know.

Clickbank Affiliate Plugin

Well, it took several hours, and lots of trial and error, but I was finally able to install the Clickbank Affiliate Plugin on the Right Sidebar of this Blog. I have been approved as a Clickbank Affiliate for awhile now, but have not taken advantage of their program. I will post again this week with more information on Affiliate Marketing and Clickbank, and how to install the Clickbank Plugin on your Wordpress blog.

Comments and Blog Traffic

I seem to be getting some increased traffic to my Blog now.

I am hoping it is because of the redesign and the Arjuna Theme.

I condensed about 30 different Categories into about a dozen Topics to have more of a Table of Contents for the Posts.

(Update 03-05-2010: I moved 55 Blog Posts to http://ReZourceGuy.wordpress.com and condensed this Blog further to 2 Pages and 5 Topics, including Miscellaneous!)

I moved around a few of the Widgets and took the Twitterfeed off of the Blog.

Some of my visitors are leaving comments, too, so this is encouraging.

I’m not quite sure how the whole “Trackbacks” thing works, but I am guessing that is the reason for some of the comments.

I hope to keep learning about Blogging and advertising my Blog.

I put a couple of Tweets out there today asking for visitors and comments.

I should learn how to write sentences that start with words other than “I”! :-)

Getting There?

Okay – after many tries at this ReZourceGuy Blog I think I am finally “getting there” with the theme and the look I envisioned several years ago.

The Atahualpa Theme is not the “ideal” theme I am looking for, but it is a free theme on this hosted site, (BlueHost) and it does allow CSS scripting customizations (for an additional cost)

I am using the Cutline Theme on another site and the PressRow Theme on a few other sites, and like both of them.

Ideally I will purchase one of the News Theme Sites that WordPress offers and customize it to get the Theme I am looking for.

I didn’t blog about it here, but a few months ago I paid an offshore firm to do some custom development on this ReZourceGuy blog, and it did not go well. I’m sure I will document the process later so others don’t repeat the same mistake. Basically, I paid the $87 or $89 US for the right to have a “Team of Developers” and a “Customer Service” hotline to contact with my questions, etc. One small thing I forgot to verify was the EASL (English As a Second Language) barriers that would prevent completing the Project. After several emails and several phone calls (they were accessible) we agreed to disagree that they were not able to understand my request.

This weekend I was able to move around some of the widgets on this Blog and updated the Categories to give more of a “Table of Contents” feel for the Posts. Over the next few days I will go back into each Post and make sure the links are current and the disclaimers are up to date.

I am an Affiliate Marketer, and I have several active relationships which I am going to promote on this Blog. In each Post there will be clear communication if it is an Affiliate relationship, and why I am promoting or recommending the Product or Service. I hope to offer more than is expected and above any perceived value.

How Do I Get Started? – Chapter 1

The ReZourceGuy recently purchased the Master Resell Rights to several eBooks on Internet Marketing, Product Marketing, Affiliate Programs, and a few others.

I will create periodic blog posts with the content of the eBooks to help readers learn as I have how to setup and maintain a profitable online business! (Note: I do have Master Resell Rights for the following eBook, including editing priveleges)

Installment #1 is the eBook “How do I Get Started” by Bryan Winter. (edits mine)

Chapter 1

Soul Searching

Developing a successful Internet Business is the ultimate goal of the Internet Entrepreneur. However, statistics show that most Internet businesses never really make any money.

Making money on the Internet isn’t easy – it takes a great deal of time and effort and requires a total commitment. You must be completely passionate about your business and have a sincere desire to succeed. Anything less will be a waste of your time and will most likely not result in success.

The largest obstacle you will ever encounter is fear – fear of the unknown – fear of change – fear of failing. Fear is the root of failure and prevents dreamers from living their true passion. Don’t fail by lack of trying!

Above all else, you must take the first step to overcome your fears. With each step you take, you move a little closer to achieving your dreams. As long as you keep trying, you will succeed.

There are many common characteristics shared by successful Internet entrepreneurs. Following are some of the most important:

Set Goals

Set your goals and write them down on a piece of paper. Set short-term reachable goals and long-term higher goals. Be reasonable with your long term goals. For example: “I want to turn a profit in my first full year as an Internet entrepreneur” is a much more reasonable goal than “I want to make a million dollars my first year…”

Work consistently towards accomplishing your goals each day, each week, and each month until you reach your short-term goals. Once you have reached your short-term goals, plan and write down a new set of goals, with a little higher expectations. Using this method, you will be making progress towards achieving your long-term goals!

Self-Discipline

Get up early each day just as if you were working outside your home. You have to take your Internet business seriously and work at it each day with self-discipline.

Self-Motivated

Set a daily schedule and stick to it. Your own personal drive will have a great impact on your success. You must have the ability to work independently and stay on task.

Positive Attitude

Your attitude is one of the most important factors that will determine your success. Your attitude will either guarantee your success, or guarantee your failure. If you have a positive attitude, and believe in yourself, you will succeed.

Organizational skills

Create a list of all the things you want to accomplish during the day. This will give you an organized approach to each day. There are Day Planners galore available, hard cover and online. Choose one you like and be disciplined to use it each day.

Attention to Detail

Whatever you’re doing, do it to the best of your ability. Pay close attention to detail. Nothing is ever going to be perfect, as you’re only human. However, if something is worth doing, it is worth doing right!

Summary:

Developing your own Internet Business is one of the most difficult, yet rewarding experiences in a lifetime. It is a continuous learning experience and will be filled with many valuable lessons that will carry over to other parts of your life.

There are no shortcuts to achieving your dreams, but there are steps you can take to speed up the process. First – don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Follow in the footsteps of successful Internet entrepreneurs who are already achieving the goals you have set for yourself. You will save yourself time and money, and can follow their roadmap for success.

Obviously the ReZources I rely on are those I am most familiar with. In many cases the information shared will be from personal experience or knowledge. If a source is quoted or used extensively, the affiliation will be documented.

The intent of this Blog, and ultimately the dot com site is to share ReZources that I have found beneficial in my business dealings and success. Comments are Open and Welcome!

If you are aware of a similar or competing ReZource that deZerves mention, or would add value to a Post, Please share the information.

The only request is that you clarify your relationship with the recommended ReZource. I will do the ReZearch, and will ReZpond every time! :-)

WORK AT HOME

WORK AT HOME (WAH)

Have you ever wanted to start your own business, even part-time, but didn’t know where to get advice or answers?

The Work-At-Home (WAH) phenomenon is certainly not new, but in tough economic times, more and more people look for ways to supplement their anemic incomes, which just can’t keep up with rising costs. (not to offend anyone – but who really wants to work a second or part-time job in retail or in some service-oriented business for an hourly rate or tips?)

I have owned and operated several small businesses; some pretty successful, and some not so successful.

Even with years of experience and resources I can count on, it is still very time consuming and sometimes expensive to get an enterprise up and running.
Personally, if there were a few resources I could trust to help me get started, and then to be there along the way for added advice or expertise, I would be willing to take a serious look at that opportunity.

Robert Kiyosaki wrote in his book, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” that you should have ready access to training materials when you start your own business.

I am not sure just how much information I can publish in this blog, but my goal is to provide links and information to help anyone decide which type of home business to pursue and build, and where to find training!

I mean, just thinking about a domain name can be daunting to some people.
There was a time when I owned over 400 domain names, and some of them were pretty impressive. (at least I thought so!) But after holding onto them for 2 years and not reselling even one, I started to let them expire, and now I am down to 20.
When I logged on to the Reseller today to grab a new domain name for this Blog and the affiliated .com website, they now have “Premium” Domain names for sale for hundreds or thousands of dollars.
I know there are people out there making tons of money buying, selling, and renting Domain Names, but I just couldn’t get that biz going.
I have a friend who is a “full-time” eBay guru. He actually makes a living and supports his family buying and selling stuff on eBay. Man, I wish I could figure that out! Maybe I’ll get him to relinquish a few trade secrets and have a new blog post for anyone interested in trying eBay or something similar.

If you have some advice or links to share about legitimate home based / work at home / part-time business opportunities, please leave a comment for me.

If I like it, and can verify the steps to make it work, I’ll contact you and arrange to share the information!

To Your Success!
